Bajo el primer peldaño (Under the first step), 2017.Site-specific installation. Dimensions variable.Scaffolding Wood. Lime plaster and pigments, graphite and tin on waterproof shuttering plates.
Produced for a show in the cellars of a XVIIc. Palace -now turned into an etnographic Museum- Bajo el primer peldaño comprises a series of gestures and inscriptions related to superstition, labor and domestic space in the realm of the medieval DIY household.
A sort of fragmented walls are reproduced in wooden boards and lime plaster where the profusion of vegetable motifs from façades and remarkable elements of architectural ornamental repertoire -houses, Palaces and even certain industries- connects with ideas of resurgence and Illustration, growth and solar cycles, as well as with notions of the apotropaic. (actions and gestures repeated through centuries, rites to block or protect from evil forces but also to bring the anew, the good).-Pics: Deseo Márquez. Shown at Museo Nuevo Baztán, Madrid.
